Sometimes people ask me if they should have children’s rugs in their child’s bedroom. They sometimes think it is a bit of a waste of time having rugs on the top of carpets or laminate flooring. In fact, it makes complete sense to have cheap rugs on the floor in your children’s rooms as they are economical and eye catching. They are much easier to clean than a large expanse of carpet, and if the worst happens and they are damaged beyond repair, cheap rugs are really economical and can be replaced without breaking the bank. I always recommend them to parents with children of any age.
Cheap rugs can be bright and cheerful, and do not look cheap as their colours are as vibrant as any carpet costing much more. Today’s modern manufacturing methods and materials mean that they are as good looking as the more expensive children’s rugs and can be just as hard wearing. Children’s rugs get a lot of hard wear as children often forget to take their shoes off, or their muddy clothes. They need to be easily cleaned but also to look good, especially if your children are older and have strong opinions about what they like and dislike. Fortunately there are many different types of cheap rugs available which are suitable for children’s rugs, so even the most fussy and demanding child will be satisfied. They will also be suitable for the more discerning adult.
Cheap rugs have a broad range of colours. Children’s rugs are usually chosen to match an existing colour scheme and fortunately there is a very wide range to choose from. Bright colours such as reds and blues, and bright patterns in cheap rugs look excellent in children’s rooms and come in a range of sizes so that they will fit into any size of bedroom. They can be placed beside the bed, or in a corner which you need to brighten up. For a more subtle approach, there are more muted colours in pastel shades which will give a calmer ambience to a child’s room.
Another effect which can be used in children’s rugs is texture. Cheap rugs can be obtained with a shaggy or chenille type pile. These feel fantastic and as children often spend a lot of time sitting or playing on the floor then the feel of rugs can be just as important to them as the look. Children’s rugs provide a base for play and should be chosen with this in mind. They should also be relatively easy to clean. Soap and water will remove most mud and dirt stains on children’s rugs after vacuuming and cheap rugs made from modern textiles are easier to clean than expensive rigs made from traditional materials, many of which need to be cleaned by a specialist.
So when people ask me if they should buy a cheap rug specifically for their child’s bedroom I have no hesitation in assuring them that it is an excellent idea. Children’s rugs are ideal for any child’s room. I would go online for my
