American beauty Jessica Simpson is soon to be plunged into the world of fashion models and designers after it was announced that she is the new mentor on a US reality TV show offering funding for a fashion line as a prize.


In Fashion Star, aspiring fashion designers will be competing against each other in a bid to win cash to back their very own fashion line, which will be modelled by fashion models and could prove the launchpad to their success in the fashion world.


Jessica will act as a mentor to the contestants, with Elle McPherson – one of the biggest names in the fashion models world and nicknamed The Body – set to be the show’s host.


Jessica is no stranger to the world of fashion models and designers, having launched her very own fashion line in the past and used to attending prestigious fashion events all over the world. Her own fashion brand encompasses clothing, accessories and beauty products including perfume, and she is likely to have vast experience in choosing the right fashion models for a particular job.

A total of 14 budding designers will take part in Fashion Star, and the last designer standing at the end of the series will be rewarded with their very own brand launch in three of the biggest retailers in the US.


Commenting on Jessica’s foray into the fashion models and mentoring business, Ben Silverman, from production company Electus, said: "Jessica Simpson has built an incredible fashion business and is a perfect mentor to our aspiring designers."
