PPI Claims – It’s not Too Late.

The banks have finally agreed that they are responsible for mis-selling PPI, or Payment Protection Insurance. They sold did to people without their knowledge or consent, or to people who could not use it, or did not need it. They sold it by saying it was obligatory, without making clear that it could be bought elsewhere. In other words, banks ripped customers off. As a result of this, PPI reclaim has been going on for some time. Understandably, the banks have fought this tooth and nail. To get your money back, plus the interest you are entitled to, you had to fight back, often a long battle. Many people were put off and gave up, due to the delaying tactics of the banks. Now however the banks are repaying their mis-sold PPIs and have put aside money to cover this expenditure. Is it too late to reclaim PPI if you haven’t done so already? First you must check if you have a valid claim. Check carefully, as PPI payments can be hidden or disguised under another name. Any payment to cover you if you are unable to pay back a loan of any type, including credit cards, can be a type of PPI payment. Also not all PPI was mis-sold. The product itself is not the problem, it is the fact that it was sold to people who did not want it nor need it. Some people were sold PPI when the policy would not have paid out if they made a claim, such as the self employed or those with a pre-existing condition. If you were mis-sold PPI, the time to make a claim is now. Banks have set aside billions of pounds to pay for this, and are processing claims. However you will still have to set out your case carefully and be persistent. No bank is going to hand out money without just cause. Banks also have a huge backlog of cases, as they put all claims on hold while they went through the courts to avoid having to pay. Now the High Court has decided in favour of the customers, these claims must be processed as quickly as possible. Some banks may even have to take on extra staff to deal with this huge backlog. The advice is not to hesitate. Banks are paying out at the moment and claims need to be with them as soon as possible. It is certainly not too late to pursue a claim against a bank. PPI has been sold at a vast profit to these organisations for over ten years, and now the bubble has burst, the customer has the chance to fight back.
